Five Public Betas and One Extraordinary Collector

damienfrost is one of the most hardcore demo collector's I've yet to meet. He estimates his demo collection to be around 7,000 discs, which includes a considerable amount of rare PSX and PS2 demos. As a rare demo hunter, he's building his collection to be the best in the world and keeps a close eye out for any variants or new discoveries, including this Psyabadek Vans promotional demo sleeve:

Among his collection includes a handful of very-rare-hard-to-find Public Beta releases (these are the cousin to the UK's series of "Online Public Betas"). Recently damienfrost was generous enough to start preserving his collection with redump.org. Here's a look at his first batch of contributions to redump:

This includes
  • Killzone Public Beta V1.0 [SCUS 97431]
  • S.L.A.I. Phantom Crash (a working title for sequel for "S.L.A.I.: Steel Lancer Arena International") [SLUS-29132]
  • Everquest Online Adventures Public Beta Volume 1.0 [SLUS-28020]
  • Everquest Online Adventures Public Beta Volume 2.0 [SLUS-28021]
  • Everquest Online Adventures Public Beta Volume 3.0 [SLUS-28026]

damienfrost plans to continue his preservation work with redump.org, and build his demo collection to be the biggest int he world, targeting every gaming system. The thoroughness in his collecting and knowledge about PlayStation demos make him amongst the most competitive in the collecting scene.

The "D" is for Demos.

Bonus: A paper info sheet came with the Everquest Online Adventures Public Beta Volume 2.0, damienfrost was kind enough to scan that as well:
